talkSPORT Ringers XI v The Cricketers Pub
6th June 2019 0 Comments
Well, who would have thought it? Our picturesque little Richmond pub, the Cricketers, was graced by sport radio royalty during the opening match of the Cricket World Cup. As England silenced South Africa at the Oval, Andy Jacobs and Danny Kelly broadcast live from the Cricketers for talkSPORT radio. During the afternoon show, the Cricketers’ own Cricket Club took on a talkSPORT eleven made up of ex-international players, including Monty Panesar, Fabian Cowdrey, Geraint Jones and Tatenda Taibu, a smattering of other athletes and some of talkSPORT’s own presenters and crew.
The home side managed to pip the visitors to the post, though we suspect there might have been a few sixes hit that were followed swiftly by a beer and a sit down in the sun, which might have taken the sting out of the ex-professional team’s tail.
The first batting team enjoyed a pub lunch to refuel, lunch that was hailed as ‘lovely, lovely food’ by Danny Kelly. We’ll take that!
