Syndicate Superstars Competition

At Metropolitan Pub Company we’re fiercely proud of the amazing people we’re lucky enough to work alongside. The people in front of and behind the scenes are what make us the company we are and we love to celebrate that whenever we can.
Syndicate Superstars is a friendly competition to help highlight and reward the incredible talent on display in all of our pubs. The pubs are visited over a series of months and rated for their food and service quality, the 12 with the highest overall scores go through to the semi-final and then the final four are chosen to go head to head to fight it out for the title.
This competition we celebrated our Sous Chefs and Assistant Managers. Finalists from The City Barge, The Durell Arms and The Vine competed through 3 gruelling challenges; an egg test, a Spanish invention test and a three course menu with drinks pairings. The skill, imagination and hard work on display was humbling to behold as were the spectacular plates of food presented to our panel of judges.
It was an extremely close run completion but The Durell Arms’ own Joseph Townsley and Claudia Marie Vila Porres took the title after their invention test and 3 course menu wowed our judges. Sous Chef Claudia started at The Durell as a Kitchen Porter 2 years ago and we couldn’t be prouder of her progress, she’s a real inspiration and this win proves that with hard work and determination you can achieve anything. Her and Joseph will be celebrating their win sunning themselves on a weekend in Barcelona thanks to our partners over at Estrella Damm.
