Before the summer kicked in, we at Metro gathered together our GMs and Head Chefs for an afternoon of mouth-watering food, innovative drinks and lively conversation. It was great to be able to bring our people together to hear about the group’s progress and share experiences and ideas for the coming year. With support from some of our fantastic suppliers, we were able to showcase some really inspirational concepts to the leadership teams in charge of the pubs that make Metro who we are.
Tom Bray from Country Fire Kitchen came down to school us all on the meat and fish revelation that is asado BBQ, and the Argentine influence was underlined by a couple of truly indulgent Malbecs from our wine suppliers. Our pals from Caves de Pyrene gave us the opportunity to taste some beautiful rosés that had us longing for summer. Our bountiful cocktail corner boasted gin & tonics and Jäeger mules, and Karma Cola reminded us that, if you prefer sodas over spirits, our industry still has so much to offer.
We were so impressed by the cracking team who made the day possible. Two of our fabulous GMs, Kylie from the Vine and Ryan from the Durell Arms, headed up the squad with support from the Ops and Exec Chef teams. The staff at the Crabtree handed over their garden for the event and Kylie and her team of supervisors and assistant managers, who volunteered their time and creativity, transformed the garden into a summer festival of food and drink to be proud of. We have no doubt that the spirit of our Metropolitan Pub Company Summer Festival Showcase will be emulated by our teams this summer and that you will find the Metro pub garden near you impossible to leave.
