About The Red Lion
The Red Lion at Hunningham is a lovely, large 17th Century pub adjacent to a 14th Century bridge crossing the River Leam. Since undergoing a root and branch refurbishment, it has been returned to its former glory after the floods. This is a proper country pub, crewed by people who love country pubs, with stone and wooden floors, decent old furniture, open fires and a friendly, chatty atmosphere.
We source good, local produce and we pride ourselves on providing a great all round menu. We want to keep the pub feeling like a pub so we don’t have any gaming machines. We can assure you of a warm welcome, good food which is served all day, alongside well kept cask beers and decent, quaffable wines.
The Red Lion menu celebrates good food using best local produce reflecting what is in season. Achieving the happy balance of great pub food and finer dining, our menu has something for all tastes. Look out for our daily specials menu offering delicious dishes recommended by our chef.

The bridge is closed but that’s no reason to stay away
From Wednesday 12th August, the lovely stone bridge linking us to Weston under Wetherley is closed to traffic for emergency repairs and is likely to remain closed for several weeks. However, we have organised car parking in a field on the Wetherley side of the bridge as the bridge is open to pedestrians. So park up, stroll across the bridge and join us for something to eat and drink in our lovely pub
