Nestled between the hullaballoo of Clapham Junction and the tranquillity of the Common, we are a friendly local for a wide and varied community and that’s the way we like it. Having been through a few different disguises in the past, our recent refurbishment was all about comfort and quality. We hope we are a pub that suits everyone at any time of day or night and does it brilliantly. Whether you’re looking for a delicious dinner with friends, a sports venue with a proper atmosphere, a quiet place for a working lunch, a quick chat on the way home from work or a cozy corner for reading or romance, we do our best to make your stay at the Merchant the best we can.
Head Chef Tomek has taken the standard of cooking to a whole new level and we hope you are as excited as we are about our new menu. Whilst aiming to be interesting and inventive, we still believe you can’t beat traditional English grub at an exceptional standard. For a delicious way to fill that afternoon gap we do baked Clarence Court eggs 4 ways – the smoked haddock, spinach and creamy sauce option is a particular hit already. Other house specialities include hangover-busting gourmet toasties, mussels fresh from the coast and Battersea’s best Sunday roast.
You will be spoilt for choices between award winning Real Ales, national and international craft lagers and wines from all over the world. Not spotted what you wanted? We rotate our most exciting guest beers every couple of barrels, so check out our guest taps and let us know what you’d like to see on draft. Our wine list is changed seasonally and we aim to offer a delicious variety at great value for money. We’ve recently brought in our very first cocktail menu – nothing too complicated, it’s 2014!, but simple, well-balanced and delectable.
